Credits card anyone?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

The emergence of electronic age made almost everything possible to people. Determining and curing terminal diseases made convenient, reaching uncharted territories became a possibility, and most of all; everyday life of people is made easy by the technology. We now have more convenient stores, easier means of transportation and a variety of gadgets that makes work and pleasure almost effortless.

When it comes to finances, technology—through efficient banking system and services—has given people better alternatives and options how to manage their finances. Among the so many financial management schemes that emerged, one alternative stands out among the rest—the credit card.

Credit card, especially to working people and those who live very busy lives, has become an ultimate financial “savior.” More than just being a status symbol or an add-on to expensive purses and wallets, credit card has revolutionized the way people spend their money.

But, more than the glamour and the convenience credit card brings, there is much more to this card than most people could ever imagine.

Credit Card 101

Before indulging much into the never-ending list of the advantages and disadvantages of having a credit card, it is very important for people to first have a brief realization of what credit card really is in order for them to maximize its potentials.

In layman’s terms, credit card is a card that allows a person to make purchases up to the limit set by the card issuer. One must then pay off the balance in installments with interest payments. Usually, credit card payment per month ranges from the minimum amount set by the bank to entire outstanding balance. And since it is a form of business, the longer the credit card holder wait to pay off his or her entire amount, the more interest pile up.

Since having a credit card is a responsibility, only those people who are of legal age and have the capability to pay off the amount they are going to spend through their credit card, is allowed to have one. Actually, most of the adults in the U.S. use credit card because this is very convenient compared to carrying cash or checks every time they have to purchase something.

It is also equally important to be familiar with the different types of credit cards before you begin to build up credit card balances and to avoid having a nightmare of debt. Since credit cards are indispensable to most consumers, it is a must that they understand the types of card that include charge cards, bankcards, retail cards, gold cards and secured cards. All of these types come in one of two interest rate options—the fixed and variable. Actually, it doesn’t really matter if you decide to have a fixed-rate credit card because the interest rate remains the same. Compared to variable rate cards where rate may be subject to change depends upon the credit card issuer’s discretion, fixed-rate carry higher interest rates. Basically, credit card grantors issue three types of accounts with basic account agreements like the “revolving agreement” a.k.a. Typical Credit Card Account which allows the payer to pay in full monthly or prefer to have partial payments based on outstanding balance. While the Charge Agreement requires the payer to pay the full balance monthly so they won’t have to pay the interest charges, the Installment Agreement, on the other hand, asks the payer to sign a contract to repay a fixed amount of credit in equal payments in definite period of time. Another category of credit card accounts includes the individual and joint accounts where the former asks the individual alone to repay the debt while the latter requires the partners responsible to pay. The common types of credit cards available through banks and other financial institutions also include Standard Credit Cards like Balance Credit Card Transfers and Low Interest Credit Cards; Credit Cards with Rewards Programs like Airline Miles Credit Cards, Cash Back Credit Cards and Rewards Credit Cards; Credit Cards for Bad Credit like Secured Credit Cards and Prepaid Credit Cards; and Specialty Credit Cards like Business Credit Cards and Student Credit Cards.

Now that you have an idea how many types of credit card there is, it is now time to review your goals before applying for one. Some of the things you should consider is how will you spend with the credit card monthly, if you plan to carry a balance at the end of the month, how much are you willing to pay in annual fees, if you have a strong credit history and is does your credit in need of rehabilitation. Once you have an idea of what you are looking for choose the right credit card for you by researching the information you need that will fit your basic needs. You may also review the credit cards you’ve research and compare them.

Shopping for a credit card?
Regardless of the type of credit card you choose, be sure to discuss your specific financial needs with your financial advisor or accountant before applying for any credit card. It is a must that you understand the benefits of having a credit card like safety, valuable consumer protections under the law, and the accessibility and availability of services. The most popular credit cards include Chase Manhattan Bank, Citibank, Bank of America, BankOne, American Express, Discover® Card, First Premier Bank, Advanta, HSBC Bank, and MasterCard Credit Cards.

Although having a credit card is synonymous to invincibility, this may also trigger a person’s thirst for material things and may lead into the temptation of buying something they don’t really need. A credit card bearer should always have in min that having a credit card is a big responsibility. If they don’t use it carefully, these may owe more than they can repay. It can also damage their credit report, and create credit problems that are quite difficult to repair.

My Beach Life

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

The beach is one of my favorite places to go and relax. It’s great any time of the day. Morning time I enjoy because I love to surf. I have been surfing since about ten years old. I plan on never quitting. It keeps me in good shape. When it comes to the mid day time the winds usually pick up. My beach is off fifty foot cliff. This makes a perfect place for glider flying. That is remote control glider fling. I have a wing glider with a twenty six inch wing span. It works great when the winds are coming straight in from the ocean. Completely wind powered with no engine. It was very scary the first time I through my brand new glider off the cliff. With cars and lots of people around you have no idea if your might hit some one. My brother once hit the side of a mini van filled with plastic storage boxes and blew out the windshield. He had to pay the owner over $150 in damages. Also mid day is a good time to just hang out with your friends. Catch a tan or for me it’s usually a sun burn. I have a lot of freckles. So I try to get them to merge into a tan. Also around 4 to 6 pm is a great time to play beach volleyball. The courts are open and easy to get on. Talk about good exercise. Running around in the sand for 1 hour will burn so many calories. Don’t for get about the evening sun set. Those are killer.

It works great on WordPress blogs as a sidebar Text Widget. I’ve put one on my own blogs.

The Badge is housed in its own little HTML DIV tag so should reside happily almost anywhere.

You can create an HTML table or div layer to house it, then you can just paste the code in verbatim . With WYSIWYG html editors, there is usually an HTML “object” box you can place in the desired location and just place the code in to that. Two popular television brands recently provided a demonstration of the televisions that they have designed to broadcast television in 3D. The companies were Sony as well as Panasonic. These are not the only brands expected to release this technologically advanced system, though. JVC as well as Mitsubishi are also in the developmental stages on their 3D television set. Here, I will provide the top 3 tips for preparing for the future release of 3D television.

1. First, you will need to start saving a little cash. In order to enjoy 3D television, you will need to purchase an actual television set that is designed to broadcast 3D images. At this point in time, there are no releases regarding integrating 3D channels on standard televisions. Due to the fact that at home 3D TV will be a “new” form of technology, it is likely that the television sets will be relatively expensive.

2. In addition to incorporating a new television set into the home, you will also need to purchase 3D glasses. While the TV manufacturers may start to sell these along with the sets, it is quite likely that the “cheap” models will work. The idea is to get stocked up now prior to the actual release of the television sets. If you wait, you may discover that the demand for these glasses results in price increases.

3. You may want to designate an area in the home, apart from the standard television set that you have, where you and your family can enjoy the 3D television once it is released. Due to the fact that this will be a new technology, it is important that you avoid going out and totally replacing your standard television at this point.

3D television will be an exciting addition to the many choices in entertainment that we have today. However, it is best to prepare for the integration of this technology. By following the top 3 tips listed here, you can be ready when the new television sets come on the market!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

One of the disadvantages of modern times is that people tend to acquire so many things they don’t really need. Numerous gadgets and services occurred targeting a vast market of consumers and this emergence of various inventions somehow blinded people.

Since finances—especially money—is one of the major concerns of many people, a wide array of financial management services and financial options emerged. One of the most visible among the unending line of financial management services there are is the credit card.

Although many people testify for the financial convenience you get when you apply for a credit card, it doesn’t mean that every financing convenience applies for you or for everybody in that matter.

When people apply for a credit card, there is always a reason. It can be for managing their finances, needing extra money or in preparation to a big expenditure. But, no matter what the reason is, people apply for a credit card because of the ultimate convenience it brings. By now, you may have had your share of ‘pre-approved’ credit card offers in your virtual and physical mail. Since people are quite vulnerable when they apply for a credit card, some credit card issuers lure these people by giving low APR credit cards, cashback credit cards and zero interest credit cards among other numerous perks. The tendency of this so many alternatives and “value” deals is to sway the person who wants to apply for a credit card.

There are undeniably endless lists of pros and cons when you apply for a credit card, but if you really have decided to apply for a credit card, these are some of the helpful tips that can guide you on your credit card shopping journey.

Actually, there are three easy steps you should follow if you have decided to apply for a credit card. First, surf the net and do some research on credit cards. By doing this, you can familiarize yourself with different credit card terms and types. Second, you can compare numerous credit cards that would best serve your needs and lastly, you may now apply for the credit card of your choice by filling out a credit card application by visiting a bank representative or through online.

In order to find the right credit card fast and easy, first, before you apply for a credit card, make sure you mastered the credit card terms. When you apply for a credit card you must know what a “credit card” really is. Being a form of borrowing that involves charges, credit cards usually have underlying credit terms and conditions affect your overall cost. So, it’s best to compare terms and fees before you apply for a credit card and agree to open an account. Some of the important terms to be understood well include the annual percentage rate or the APR.

When you apply for a credit card, you must know how the APR affects your credit account. Being a measure of the cost of credit expressed as a yearly rate, the APR should be disclosed before you apply for a credit card so that you would not be obligated on the account and on your account statements later on. Aside from APR, the periodic rate must be disclosed to the card holder before they completely apply for a credit card so they would have an idea of their outstanding balance and finance charge for each billing period. Other important terms to know before you apply for a credit card are free period or “grace period,” annual fees, transaction fees and other charges, other costs and feature, and balance computation method for the finance charge like average daily balance, adjusted balance, previous balance, and two-cycle balances. If you’re not that type of person who is patient enough to research on all these terms, make sure that before you apply for a credit card, the issuer will give an explanation how the balance is computed and it must appear on your monthly billing statements.

Top 5 Ways to Stay Motivated to Lose Weight

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

When losing weight, it’s extremely important that you maintain a high level of motivation. There are so many temptations that can hinder your weight loss efforts, so you have to keep your goals in front of you constantly. Here are three great ways you can do that.

1. Avoid negative influence. When I was a teenager, my extended family was all overweight. So when I would try to lose weight, they would often make well-meaning comments like “you’re getting too skinny” or “you need to eat more.” The more you can avoid people who don’t see your weight loss goals as being positive, the better.

2. Seek positive influence. While negative influence can certainly hinder your progress, positive influence can have the opposite effect. So seek out friends and relatives who are working toward the same goals you are and spend as much time with them as you can. Swap ideas and success stories, too. If you don’t have any friends or relatives, join a weight loss program such as Weight Watchers that encourages interaction with other people trying to lose weight.

3. “Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.” I learned that at Weight Watchers, and can personally vouch for the truthfulness of those words. Whenever you’re confronted with an opportunity to go overboard, or eat something you shouldn’t, repeat those words to yourself. Imagine yourself being thin and fit if you pass on that piece of pie or that ice cream and cookies. Suddenly they won’t look so appealing.

Taking the above actions is a great way to keep your motivation strong, and motivation is a definite requirement when trying to lose weight.

How To Fight Home Foreclosure

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Fighting a foreclosure is like fighting a guilty verdict when the whole world has seen the convincing evidence. You did fail to pay up on your mortgage, so it is only to be expected. But there is no reason why they should treat you like an animal. Make them see that, and make them see that you are indeed going to turn a new leaf. Make them stop the foreclosure.

Some people make a distinct life out of fighting. Having had to fight for everything that they have, they will not hesitate to fight even a foreclosure to a standstill. I think if you are in one of those situations, you ought to move a bit closer to folks like that. They might just help.

To stop a foreclosure on your home you may need to seek out the best lawyer in town. Seeing as you might not have the funds to pay for their services, you had better be hoping that they take you on pro bono. At least with someone like that on your side, you stand better chances of winning the case. Otherwise, all might as well be lost.

If you have nowhere else to go, make a stand and state your plea. It might seem a silly thing to do after you have received summons to a foreclosure hearing, but it might be all that you have. If you are going to stop the foreclosure, you are going to have to start from somewhere.

6 reasons why UK businesses use 0844 numbers

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Many UK businesses use 0844 phone numbers as a point of contact for their customers. 0844 numbers are known as non-geographic telephone numbers; like 0845 numbers and 0800 numbers etc. However, the primary difference between 0844 numbers and these other numbers is that many organisations use them to make some money back on the calls they receive and to help them fund additional services. It’s for this reason that 0844 numbers are often used as technical support helplines, for example. Here are 6 reasons why UK businesses use 0844 numbers:

1) 0844 numbers are non-geographic – meaning that they don’t have traditional 01/02 area codes. This means that the location of organisations that use them are not made explicit and they can expect to receive calls from outside of their area (e.g. regionally and even nationally).

2) Organisations can see their busy periods, missed calls and the geogrpahic location of their callers with online call statistics that work in conjunction with 0844 numbers.

3) People can change where they receive their calls instantly. So, if they wanted to receive calls to their 0844 number on their mobile, they can simply change the settings online and activate this instantly.

4) Businesses can receive a payment of 4p per minute on the calls they receive to their 0844 numbers.

5) People can handpick a highly memorable 0844 number that their customers will recall with ease.

6) Organisations can keep 0844 numbers for life. Their 0844 number won’t ever have to change again – saving them time, money and hassle if they relocate.

The popularity of 0844 numbers has increased of late and this could be attributed to Ofcom’s recent review of 0870 numbers. The communications watchdog has now stipulated that calls to 0870 numbers should cost no more than a national rate call (unless specifically advertised otherwise). This has meant that revenue sharing opportunities using 0870 numbers have become more difficult and people are naturally looking at 0844 numbers instead as the ideal alternative.
