Were We Really Just Up And Getting A Classic Ford Mustang
Thursday, May 28th, 2009I really have not been able to post on this blog nearly as often as I’d planned, on account of how much I’ve been helping my old man manage his incredibly wacky midlife crisis. Okay, I guess it isn’t as crazy as it might be. Basically how he did it was he dressed up like the Fonz, and come over to my house and tell me, in his jazziest possible vocal tone: “Come on in, bro, we are going cruising for some classic Ford Mustangs for sale. You better believe it, brother, I’m all set to make this thing happen.”
Right then and there the two of us were hopping around to some of those wild vintage car lots that I’m always pretty much convinced are not quite on the up and up, and I am just awed the old man made out a check without even stopping to think, for an extremely shiny classic Ford Mustang. It really is quite purchase. It sounded great as well.
I want to point out that I wrote about that sound in the past tense. It sounded great until it seized up completely. Dad maintains that it is just a simple fix and all he needs is the right part. Of course, it may not be as easy to locate 1969 Mustang parts as it was over 30 years ago, but Dad informs me there is a really good-sized availability for them in spite of their age. From what I’m told the the best bet for finding parts for 1969 Mustangs is through online auctions, because you can find them refurbished and sometimes better than new. They might not be that inexpensive, though… I mean, these are thirty year old automobile parts.
I suppose it could’ve been worse. He could’ve gone and found a harley.
